It was in October 2007 when India got its own Formula One team aptly named “Force India F1″ owned by Vijay mallya. This news combined with Formula One track being build in outskirts of Delhi helped in creating the fan following and i occasionally would find some people now which can chat F1, Previously it was only possible online. I also brought the Forceindia domains online and hold on to them for an year, I still hold some of the tld.

2008 for team was nothing more than carrying on the culture of previous team. Other than the name and owner there was never anything Indian about Force India team, It was same Silverstone Squad and only difference which yielded results was the Management skills/passion and Money Vijay Mallya put into the team. It started coming out good in 2009 with Adrian Sutil constantly getting nice qualifying results but points were always elusive. Later in the year getting Mclaren Deal provided the car Mercedes Engine on the back which is arguably the best engine on the grid available not only because of power but also efficiency, Deal was even sweeter because In-race refuilling will be banned from 2010 so an efficient engine with more mileage will also score points on competitors next year.

Combined with constant aero updates coming from Valencia it came out to be the blindingly fastest car in Spa Belgium outpacing all bigshots, Giancarlo Fisicella got first pole position for Force India. Nobody including me was expecting this and it surely made my day. I would have given them another year to be in constant top 10 but getting an pole this year only was an big achievement. It got even better next day and Giancarlo came behind Ferrari of Kimi to take the podium. Not to mention this is the same Kimi which was involved in Incident 3 times previously which prevented Adrian Sutil getting points so it was no surprise Fisi played safe this time and settled for second even with a faster car.
It could have been First win for Force India if Ferrari did not have unfair advantage of KERS( Kinetic Energy Recovery System), Kimi overtook Fisi using KERS boost first lap after safety car but nevertheless 8 points team got were worth millions. However i do believe “Finishing second means you are the first person to lose”…

I am quite excited about next race now in Italy as its also an fast track like Spa with long straights best suited for Force India Car, Hopefully they can repeat the results. I am also planning to attend European Race next year before it reach Delhi in 2011, lets see how it comes out for me !!
